Please volunteer for this wonderful event!
The Jill E. Solomon Bicycle Helmet Safety Day is sponsored by the White Plains Recreation and Parks Department for the benefit of children from White Plains.
The Jill E. Solomon Bicycle Helmet Safety Day is supported by the Jill E. Solomon Foundation, which was established in 1998 in memory and honor of Jill Solomon whose life was tragically taken far too early.
The foundation supports causes that were near and dear to Jill's heart. The annual Jill E. Solomon Bicycle Helmet Safety Day provides new helmets which are individually fitted for each child, bike tune ups (tire pressure, brake check, proper seat height etc...), rules of the road instruction and teaching kids to ride without training wheels.
The foundation also makes annual grants to Project Morry - a year round youth development organization anchored by a residential summer camp with an educational focus that serves inner city at risk kids, and it also provides need based college scholarships to graduating White Plains High School seniors, funds to My Sisters Place for their domestic violence and life skills programs, assistance to the Westchester Jewish Community Services Parent/Child Home Program - a home-based parenting and literacy program serving low income families, and support to The Lexington Center for Recovery Generations Program that provides counseling and assistance for chemically dependent women and their families.
The Jill E. Solomon Bicycle Helmet Safety Day is the best cycling gift we could give the children of White Plains!
Please join us to help create a safer rider environment and the next generation of responsible cyclists!
